+ WHAT IS A SOUNDBATH?

A sound bath is a healing session you can experience fully-clothed, lying down in a comfortable resting pose in a dry, safe, and secure place. A sequence of quartz crystal singing bowls are played, each one keyed to the energy centers (chakras) of the body, where the sound nourishes the nervous system. The results are a deeply relaxed state of mind, body, and spirit.

How do these singing bowls affect our bodies so profoundly? Every part of our body, down to our cellular level, are crystalline in structure. This allows them to respond and resonate with the frequencies produced by the crystal singing bowls. Sound baths also act as a therapeutic gateway to your subconscious mind by allowing you to achieve and stimulate the Alpha and Theta brainwaves which are most commonly present during hypnosis, REM sleep, and deep meditation. Sound can help facilitate shifts in our brainwave state by entrainment; synchronizing fluctuating brainwaves by providing a stable frequency to which the brainwave can attune. By using particular combinations of rhythms and frequencies, it is possible to shift our normal beta state (alert, concentrating, reacting) to alpha (creative, relaxed), and even theta (meditative state) and delta (deep sleep; where restoring and healing can occur). Using sound as therapy can provide results for a variety of issues including: sleep disorders, anxiety, depression, stress management, PTSD, pain management.

+ WOULD A SOUNDBATH HELP ME RELAX AND SLEEP BETTER?

Most people report of a “good night’s sleep” after a Sound Bath which often extends into a calm, centred feeling the next day. The more you can bring relaxation into your life the better you will be able to sleep and bring a new, overall calm to your life.

+ WHAT DO YOU WEAR TO A SOUNDBATH?

We really recommend to wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing during your Soundbath experience, similar to work-out wear or pajamas. Enjoy your cosmic nap barefoot or in socks, but please remove your shoes. It is also best to remove all metal and electronics from your body and clothing pockets during the performance.

+ WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO A SOUNDBATH?

For a comfortable journey please bring your own yoga mat or self-inflatable camp mat, a light blanket or pashmina scarf in case you get cold, and a soft eye mask or eye pillow to block out any light source from the space.

Make sure to bring along any totems, photos of loved ones, and crystals to surround your comfy nest. The sound frequencies emitted from Soundbaths help to charge your crystals without having to wait for the next full moon.

Also, most importantly, bring an extra ticket for friend, coworker or family member who can benefit from sound healing.

+ HOW WILL I FEEL AFTER A SOUNDBATH?

Most people feel deeply relaxed, and even a little bit "spacey", so it’s a good idea to plan an early night, have a light meal and drink lots of water. For a lot of clients, it is a welcome escape from anxious thoughts and feelings, but those on a quest for extra head space might find that they need to book in for more than one Soundbath to feel truly tranquil.

To get the most out of your session be very present within yourself and pay attention to the subtle shifts that will occur after. If you get waves of inspiration and creativity, follow that. Your inner compass will be heightened and helping you to make the changes you need to come into balance and alignment. If you get the urge to do things different, have conversations you feel called to or change things up – go for it!!

+ CAN CHILDREN SOME TO A SOUNDBATH?

For most children, being quiet and still for any length of time is difficult and movement, fidgeting or talking is disruptive to other participants so please do not allow children under 16 years of age to attend the community Soundbaths.
